New Delhi/Allahabad:
Four years to the day that 13-year-old Aarushi Talwar was found dead in her bed with her throat slit, her parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar have reached the Ghaziabad CBI court where they are on trial, accused of murdering their daughter.
Rajesh Talwar is out on bail, mother, Nupur, is lodged in Dasna Jail. Today, there are crucial hearings connected to Aarushi's murder in three courts simultaneously - in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Allahabad.
The Aarushi-Hemraj murder trial resumes in the special CBI court in Ghaziabad today and the CBI is expected to provide the statement of Dataram Nanoria, the first investigating officer in the murder case, to Aarushi's parents.
The court is also likely to hear arguments on framing of charges against the Talwars. On Tuesday, the CBI handed over three CDs to the Talwars' lawyers and also brought around 6000 pages of documents to be given to the couple.
In Allahabad, the High Court will hear the bail application of Nupur Talwar, who was denied bail by the CBI court in Ghaziabad 14 days ago. While rejecting her bail plea, the lower court said that "Nupur tried her best to avoid appearing in court, to scuttle the fair and smooth progress of the case and even circumvented the order of the Supreme Court, and therefore her conduct has been such that she can't be released".
In her bail plea before the High Court, Nupur has said that she has not murdered anybody, and has accused the CBI of conducting an improper and incomplete investigation. She says she has obeyed the court's orders and her good conduct entitles her to bail.
The Supreme Court is due to hear the Talwars' review petition to quash charges against them. During the last hearing, the top court had said that Nupur 's plea that proceedings against her be quashed was premature.
The Talwars allege that there are lacunae in evidence used to accuse them of the murders of Aarushi and the family domestic help, Hemraj, and so cases against them should be quashed. Hemraj was found murdered a day after Aarushi's body was discovered in her bed.
Rajesh Talwar was arrested soon after the murders and was kept behind bars for 50 days before being set free in July 2008. He was then made an accused in the case, three years later.
