An RJD lawmaker from Bihar has denied reports that he was caught on camera forcibly holding a woman and dancing, allegedly during a study tour in Manipur. The lawmaker, Yaduvansh Kumar Yadav, says it was "someone else" on the video but he is being framed.
A video clip in circulation is said to be from Mr Yadav's visit on June 1, along with a group of Bihar legislators, to Moreh town on the India-Myanmar border.
The man said to be Mr Yadav in the video is seen trying to grab hold of the girl's shoulder even when she removes his hand.
Mr Yadav heads the Committee on Internal Resource and Central Assistance of the Bihar Legislative Assembly; members of the panel had visited Manipur to "take stock of the development program" under the Act East Policy of the NDA government. Four other lawmakers including the BJP's Sachin Prasad Singh, Janata Dal United's Raj Kumar Rai and another RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) leader Raja Pakar had also travelled with him.
"We are not present in the video, neither I nor the committee members who had gone with me. Some other man's face has been shown and the video has been made public," he said, threatening to sue those who had named him.
NDTV cannot verify the authenticity of the video.
Put out by Imphal Times, the video has come at a time the RJD or Rashtriya Janata Dal is smarting from its rout in last month's national election. For the first time, the party did not win even one of Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha seats, which sent its jailed leader Lalu Yadav - a three-time chief minister - into depression.
Lalu Yadav's partner-turned-rival Nitish Kumar, along with the BJP, won 39 seats and the Congress, one.
