Thane (Maharashtra):
Under the supervision and at the urging of a lawmaker, a teen in Maharashtra was beaten repeatedly by a young girl he had allegedly been stalking.
Jitendra Awhad, who is from Sharad Pawar's NCP or Nationalist Congress Party, is a legislator in Maharashtra. He is seen on video encouraging the girl to thrash her alleged stalker in his office in Thane, on the outskirts of Mumbai.
The assault was recorded on Monday evening. Mr Ahwad had reportedly been approached for help by the underage girl who claimed that the teen was forcing her into a relationship with him. The video was shared on WhatsApp groups. "If the media thinks I have committed a crime, hang me," said Mr Awhad, adding that the girl, who lives in a slum near his house, was so perturbed that she had tried to commit suicide.
He summoned her and the teen boy to his office where he then supervised the attack after allegedly stating that the boy should be "taught a lesson."
A case of harassment has been filed against the teen boy. No action has been taken against the lawmaker so far.
