Mumbai:
It was to be just another journey. But Govindram Ramchandani did not reach his destination that afternoon. A railway station close circuit TV captured the horrifying reason why.
The 65-year-old shopkeeper and his daughter were boarding a local train at Byculla station on the Central Line bound for Titwala. Ramchandani had just pushed his luggage in when the train started and he fell into the gap between the train and the platform. His daughter screamed as she tried to save him.
She caught the attention of an alert home guard Vaibhav Bhonsade, who ran toward Ramchandani and tried his best to pull him out. He couldn't. The railway station CCTV captured the mishap and the attempts to save the shopkeeper.
