New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra attacked the ruling BJP today as disruptions over the Lalit Modi controversy forced adjournments in Parliament.

"Parliament begins and so do their petty diversion political tactics... People of India are not fooled. Regret to see India Led by such so called leaders !!" Mr Vadra posted on Facebook.

Mr Vadra, 46, has been repeatedly targeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP over his controversial land deals, which allegedly led to windfall gains for his company. The latest barb from PM Modi came in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

He was speaking on the centenary of former state minister Girdhari Lal Dogra, a Congress politician whose son-in law is Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, when he remarked that "there are some sons in law who do not bask in their in-laws' glory. But today, we all know how political damads (sons in law) can be."

Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice president Rahul Gandhi today met with the party's MPs and resolved to disrupt parliament and hold protests to demand the removal of BJP leaders caught in controversies.

Congress leaders including Mr Gandhi have said the government must remove Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for helping disgraced cricket tycoon Lalit Modi. They also want the sacking of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the Vyapam scandal.
