Mumbai:
A detailed affidavit on allegations against self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa was sought the Bombay High Court yesterday from the Mumbai police today.
The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by lawyer Falguni Brahmbhatt accusing Radhe Maa of obscenity and luring people by making false promises.
Ms Brahmbhatt told the court that the police were not acting on her complaint against the self-styled godwoman.
Radhe Maa, 50, has rejected the allegations. Speaking to NDTV last month she had said she had "done no wrong and the truth would emerge as she had faith in God".
A complaint alleging that Radhe Maa, whose real name is Sukhvinder Kaur, is running a sex racket in the name of religion was filed at the Kandivali Police Station. Television actress
Dolly Bindra has also filed a complaint against the controversial godwoman.
Radhe Maa has also been booked in a dowry harassment case filed at the Kandivali Police Station by a 32-year-old woman. She has been questioned by the Kandivali police in the case and has denied allegations of instigating the woman's in-laws to demand dowry.
Radhe Maa hails from Punjab but moved to Mumbai and built a dedicated lot of followers that includes film director Subhash Ghai and
singer Sonu Nigam. She recently created a flutter on social media with her pictures in a mini-skirt and faces a host of allegations varying from cheating, obscenity and hurting religious sentiment.
