One woman was killed and two others injured when they were hit by a truck at Shibpur area in Howrah district today, triggering unrest among the local people, the police said.
The incident occurred at Bataitala locality under Shibpur police station but the locals claimed that all the three people were killed in the accident.
An angry mob set fire to a motorbike and put up a road blockade there, the police said.
The police's Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed in the area where senior police officials have gone.
