Srinagar: One policeman has been killed and two other cops are injured after militants opened fire upon a police patrol party in Chadoora in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Chadoora is just 15 kilometres from Srinagar.
"Militants opened indiscriminate fire on the police party... Station House Officer Sub Inspector Shabir Ahmad died in the attack," the police said.
The other two injured policemen have been identified as Constable Mohammad Shafi and Firdous Ahmad.
The militants managed to escape after the attack. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility so far.
