A 23-year-old orchestra dancer was today shot dead by a man after she allegedly refused to perform on a vernacular song on the demand of the audience during a marriage function in Baria area in Ballia, a senior police officer said.
Piyu, a native of Chaubis Pargana district in West Bengal, was shot dead in in the wee hours by Babloo Kumar Singh, when she refused to perform a song during a marriage function in Daya Chappra village, Additional Superintendent of Police KC Goswami said.
He said that accused Babloo has been arrested. Meanwhile, the victim's body has been sent for postmortem.
