Orissa's Ambapua village has thrown up a national spectacle with a local dance group scoring an amazing win in the hotly contested TV reality show "India's Got Talent".
The Prince Dance Group from the village in Berhampur town, comprising of 26 amateur artists, most of whom work as labourers, has proved that where there's a will, there sure is a way.
The dance group has won a prize money of Rs 50 lakh.
''Team members work as daily wagers between 10 am to 5 pm. After work, instead of taking rest they spend time rehearsing. It is sheer hard work and determination that has brought them the honours,'' said Padmanav, a member of the group.
While speaking on this remarkable achievement, Krishna Mohan Reddy, dancer and founder of Prince Dance Group, said: ''We were working as labourers because we had no option. Now that we have received so much support and money, we can give up that work and become professional dancers.''
The group's win was decided not only by a scintillating performance but also by a huge number of SMS votes from across the country. People from all walks of life were cheering them. Even Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was rooting for them.
''Prince Dance Group has been like the Diwali Ka Anar from Orissa, which is now seen by the rest of the world. I want to do something wonderful for them. All of us have been under their magical spell,'' the chief minister said.
The newly crowned group's next hope is to take the cultural stage in the US by storm.
