Malkangiri , Orissa: Maoists blew up a panchayat building used for accommodating security forces during anti-Naxal operations in Orissa's Malkangiri district early today.
About 100 armed rebels stormed into Malabaran village and blew up the building with landmines, Inspector In-Charge of Motu police station S K Taoria said. The Maoists shouted anti-government slogans before disappearing into the forests, he said.
Additional forces were rushed to the village to launch combing operations. About a dozen panchayat buildings, schools and godowns have been destroyed by the ultras so far this year.
