Mumbai:
Outrage grows over the explosive CAG report on land grab in Maharashtra with BJP leaders demanding, the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ministers named in the report to be sacked.
Drawing the maximum flak is Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. He has been indicted by the CAG for allegedly using political clout to get public land for family-backed trusts at concessional rates which meant a huge loss to the taxpayer.
The former Maharashtra Chief Minister has already been severely criticised by the Supreme Court for giving land at a lesser price to film-maker Subhash Ghai's film institute.
Also facing the heat is NCP leader and Maharashtra Public Works Department minister Chhagan Bhujbal, whose department allotted two multi-crore plots of land to an Institute, of which his nephew Sameer is a trustee. This has raised serious questions about conflict of interest.
