Jammu: Over 34,000 candidates have registered themselves for the ten-day army recruitment rally that is being conducted for the aspirants of the ten districts of Jammu region from October 30 to November 10.
"A total of 34,211 candidates have registered for the recruitment rally that started from today," Deputy Director General Recruiting (Punjab and J&K) Brigadier J S Samyal told reporters in Jammu today.
He said this year the candidates willing to join the army were asked to register online.
"For the first time in Jammu and Kashmir the rally is being conducted on an online system of registration of candidates which is a departure from the earlier open rally system," he said.
He said that the online registration of candidates would also help the recruiting agency to properly manage the crowd that turns up for the recruitment.
"Earlier, we had no idea about how many candidates would turn up for the rally, but with the online system we can regulate the crowd and can make adequate arrangements," Brig Samyal said.
He said that the candidates belonging to Samba, Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Reasi, Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar district would take part in the ten-day long recruitment rally from which the successful candidates will be inducted into various arms and services of the army.
While cautioning the candidates from falling into the trap of tout, he said that the recruitment process was fully transparent which provides no scope for touts.
"The recruitment process is transparent which leaves no scope for touts, the candidates and their families must not fall in the trap of such touts," he said.
