Gurugram building collapse: Rescue operation is going on after the four-storey building collapsed

Gurugram:

Seven people died after a four-storey building collapsed in Gurugram's Ullawas this morning, the police said. A rescue operation is going on.

A bulldozer cleared debris from the site, and personnel of the Haryana fire service.

The rescuers said it's not known yet what led the building in Ullawas, 12 km from the popular Cyber Hub, to come crashing down at 5 am. The fourth floor was under construction, news agency PTI reported. The people trapped in the debris could be labourers who were working on the fourth floor, rescuers said. They said some 20 tenants including security guards working at nearby sectors were living in the building.

Gurgaon police has registered a FIR against land owner and contractor under section 304A (death due to negligence) at sector 65 police station. The police said they are looking for the building's owner, a resident of Ullawas village.

"Rescue teams are facing difficulty as they are removing heavy concrete, iron grills," fire department officer Isham Singh said yesterday.
