Over 500 paramilitary personnel rushed to Kishtwar after clashes

Jammu: Over 500 personnel of CRPF, Indian Reserve Police and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police were today rushed to Kishtwar district, where curfew was imposed after communal clashes broke out in which one person was killed, police said.

"Five companies from Jammu have been rushed to Kishtwar, where clashes broke out between two communities," a police officer said in Jammu.

Two companies of CRPF and three companies of Indian Reserve Police and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police were rushed to the district, the officer said.

"Situation is very tense and efforts are being made to bring it under control," he said.

Curfew was imposed in Kishtwar after one person was killed and over 20 injured in communal clashes in the district.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately known, suffered gunshot wounds when a group of protestors opened fire near a petrol pump in Kishtwar.
