Under de-hoarding operations, 82,462.53 tonnes of pulses were seized in 8,394 raids.
New Delhi:
Over 80,000 tonnes of pulses seized from hoarders across the country are likely to be available in the retail market within a week, the government said today.
"The states have indicated that seized stock of pulses will be made available in retail markets within a week," the consumer affairs ministry said in a statement.
Under de-hoarding operations, 82,462.53 tonnes of pulses were seized in 8,394 raids, it added.
The ministry said the prices of pulses in the wholesale market have started coming down with several states selling the commodity at subsidised rates through government and cooperative outlets.
Various state governments had intensified the crackdown on hoarders and black marketers after the shortage of pulses in the retail markets led to increase in its prices.
