Kolkata:
An Air India stewardess who was fired for being overweight will have to be re-employed by the airline.
Nipa Dhar was warned in 2001 that she was 15 kilos overweight. She offered to take a ground job instead of flying, but later that year, she was sent a termination notice. The 44-year-old has argued in court that she put on weight because of medication given to her for anxiety problems.
The Calcutta High Court has said that Air India will have to give her a ground job and her salary from 2001 onwards. It has also ordered the airline to set up a medical board to assess Dhar's health.
