Chennai: Dutch national Will Heume, convicted of kidnapping children, committing unnatural sexual offences and posting child pornography on the Internet, has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Apart from the jail sentence, Heume has also been fined Rs 20,000.
A fast-track court delivered the judgement, convicting him under three charges - Section 367 (Kidnapping), Section 377 (Unnatural sexual offences), and IT Act 67(B).
Will Heume was arrested in Chennai November 6, 2009, on a tip-off from the Interpol and other intelligence agencies, that he was uploading obscene pictures on the Internet. But he got bail after the police failed to file a chargesheet within 90 days of his arrest.
Heume moved to India 30 years ago.
Heume had earlier been arrested in 2002 for sexually abusing children in an orphanage he ran in Tamil Nadu. He was granted bail in that trial.
