New Delhi: With New Delhi cancelling foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan after its envoy, Abdul Basit, met separatists, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav tells NDTV that the Pakistan policy should be realistic and not romantic. Also, at a time when repeated references by the RSS to all Indians being Hindus have raised questions over whether the RSS is contradicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's own inclusive messaging, Mr Madhav says, these are long standing positions of the RSS and it is a distortion to link them to the BJP being in power. Mr Madhav said the RSS cannot be expected to change its position, but added that these views were not being thrust on anyone.
Following are the highlights of his interview to NDTV:
- RSS welcomed invitation to Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif
- Pakistan's tamasha (drama) of meeting separatists can't be supported
- Policy with Pakistan should be realistic, not romantic
- RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's views on Hindu cultural identity are long standing
- Bhagwat's view on Hindu cultural identity not thrust on anyone
- Government decision on UPSC issue was a reasonable one
- RSS wasn't the only one opposing GM crops; why make it about us?
