Jammu:
In a fresh ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops today opened unprovoked firing on five Indian forward posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting retaliation from Indian forces.
Pakistan Army troops opened small and medium weaponry firing and lobbed rocket-propelled grenades in Mendhar sub-sector of Poonch at around 1230 hours, Defence Spokesman SN Acharya said.
Indian troops retaliated, resulting in exchange of fire that continued till 1340 hours, he said, adding there was no report of any casualties.
The Indian posts which came under attack are Palli, 485, 485A, Puna and Noyal.
There have been over 90 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops so far this year. Six jawans were killed and 13 people injured in ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistani troops in forward posts and civilian areas and on patrol parties along the border in over a month.
