Muzaffarnagar:
A community panchayat at Dadheru village here has directed a youth, accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, to marry her, police said.
The panchayat was called after the accused had refused to marry the victim, who was pregnant.
Their marriage was solemnised here yesterday, they said.
Earlier, the family members of the victim had lodged an FIR with the police against Majid (25) for raping their 14-year-old daughter and later threatening her with dire consequences.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that both sides had reached a compromise to withdraw the rape case against the accused.
