We are not satisfied that this Bill actually protects individual privacy and is liable to be misused under national security
- There is enormous confusion that Aadhaar will somehow identify people who are entitled for subsidy. Aadhaar does not determine who is eligible and who is not eligible. Please let us get rid of this myth
- Aadhaar is a proof of identity. It It does not determine who is entitled to pension, wages, subsidy. It only determines that you are you.
- Our party wants Aadhaar confined to targeting of subsidies
- A survey shows 40% of Jandhan accounts which have Aadhaar numbers have not been able to access them
The UPA Bill was only for the creation of UID, that Bill has been altered now. Now UID will be vehicle for distribution of money
Core principle is how will it be spent. This will be done on people are who are entitled to subsidies.
If I look at the earlier UPA Bill- the privacy provisions, privacy is a right, right for individual liberty.
If you see UPA law, they had several provisions on confidentiality. The present law restricts to two situations.
A person by consent can say his/her personal data can be shared but bio-metric data cannot be shared even by consent
"To suggest it is like another organization gives it respectability - this is what you have done, perhaps inadvertently," Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in admonishment to Ghulam Nabi Azad.
"We oppose organizations like ISIS, the way we oppose the RSS. If those among us in Islam also do wrong things, they are in no way less than the RSS," Mr Azad was quoted as saying at a speech on Saturday.
"I request BJP parliamentarians to go into a room to listen to this CD," said Mr Azad, before reading out the part of his speech about the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh or RSS that has sponsored a political controversy.

- The profit from import of oil prices after the reduction in prices was divided into three parts.
- The biggest share was passed on to the consumers, and i have accounts to prove it.
- A second share was passed on to the oil distribution companies, who are have both public and private shareholders. They had incurred huge losses due to future buying.
- Third went into infra cess in the form of excise duty.
- In 1997, P Chidambaram brought a scheme. When your leaders criticise, let us recall what happened in the past. An amnesty scheme in which people were asked to pay 30 per cent, pay at 1987 income rates.
- Most declarants were women and children. The immediate effect was there was no tax buoyancy next year.
- As of the market value today, we say, pay the tax plus a 50 per cent penalty. This is not an amnesty scheme.
- So when you make comments on government's policies to get black money from abroad or compliance window etc. , I would say, please check your track record.
- We need a cooperation of all political roots.
- We are fighting a global economic crisis. You have been in power for a longer period than us.

10 years of UPA in Railways, the average annual expense for Rail development was Rs 9291 crore. But in 2 years we have spent Rs 32,587 crore

But if the House maintains decorum we will be able to put our point of view in a better manner.

"24 times we reduced petrol prices, 18 times we have reduced diesel prices. We have invested this money in farm, roads and health sectors. 50% benefit directly to the consumer, 50% to social, infrastructure sector. Is it a crime to have a balanced fiscal strategy?" he said
The fall in oil prices has not been given to consumer. As of Feb 2013, excise duty was Rs Rs 9.48 on petrol to Rs 21.48. You have increased it. Instead of passing it to the consumer, in diesel it went up from Rs 3.56 in 2013 to Rs 17.33 in 31.01.2016, asks CPI leader Sitaram Yechury.
Question is why has this not been transferred to the consumer, why did the government appropriate it?, he said.
