- We will do whatever we can to normalise situations. A dialogue has to be started with the locals.
- After the situation normalises, the CM said she herself will come to Delhi and discuss how the dialogue can be taken forward.
- Those who incite the youth on the issue of Azadi, and referendum... The issue of referendum which is outdated, irrelevant. We will try to bring them back on the right track.
- PM Narendra Modi believes in what PM Vajpayee said. We have three elements to solve the problem of Kashmir: Kashmiriyat, Jamuriyat and Insaniyat.
- But can anybody who believes in humanity celebrate the death of security forces? Militants have to be dealt with strongly.
- People have to be dealt with sympathy - that's what we believe
- We have said if weapons have to be used, they must be non-lethal.
- According to our data, about 1,900 civilians have been injured.
- 1671 security forces personnel injured, 1 jawan killed, 33 civilians killed

The kind of excessive force used by security personnel needs to be controlled
There must be a conspiracy being hatched by Pakistan, but you have to look at the measures to counter it

The mathematics of the poll results were such that only 2 parties could join to form a government. That was not in anyone's hand. You (Congress) also joined hands with National Conference and PDP because you knew that we need to work with these regional parties.
We have differences with the PDP... just like you (Congress) did with PDP and NC... but for the idea of India, we joined hands.
Ever since Independence Pakistan never reconciled to the fact that Kashmir is an integral part of India.
And hence they go to every extent to disrupt India and Kashmirs progress. When they (Pakistan) saw that they couldn't win a conventional war.... They resorted to terrorism and militancy.

We must rise above party politics and work for the betterment of India. We must show some statesmenship.
I agree with Mr Azad that Kashmir situation is very serious and grim. I must say that things were fine till recently.
But, thinking that everything is wrong only since the formation of the PDP-BJP government is incorrect. The truth of the situation is that efforts have been made to put hurdles in the way of the ruling party.
The battle is not between parties. It is between the country and the separatists.
'Want to tell Pakistan, those who live in glass houses don't throw stones at others. Stop interfering'.
Pakistan is the root of all problems and troubles. I must say that the formation of Pakistan is the root of all problems. They have left no stone unturned to create unrest in India.
I request for an All Party meeting on the Kashmir situation. We must all sit and see what is the best way to calm the situation. And yes, we must bring to task those who use disproportionate force.

Prime Time these days on news channels have become a fight between Hindus and Muslims. Half of the hatred is due to the media. I thank the people of India not to be influenced by these TV shows and debates.
If Zakir Naik preachers terror... definitely prosecute him.

The PDP-BJP government is a misfit in today's day and age. An eruption doesn't happen overnight. Kashmir is a sensitive state, a border state. We have been trying to get them in the mainstream since 1947. Please do not ruin all our efforts.
Kashmiris are intelligent and have even more love and warmth. Please do not push them against the wall by treating civilians like militants. Please do not use disproportionate force against the residents of the valley.
Kashmiris have recently violated the restrictions just to take Hindus injured and sick during the Amarnath yatra. In fact they are standing in line to give blood. I truly thank them.

Who has what role to play. Who is responsible? What is Pakistan's role in the unrest. Be it state or central government, I don't want to blame anyone.
There has been a coalition government be it mine, Omar Abdullah's or todays government. We must learn from what is happeneing. It is a matter of concern that these incidents have risen sharply since 2008. Why is this happening? We must analyse.
What we are seeing (militancy) - I am sorry to say it wasn't there even in the 90s
We are with the government in ending militancy, but can't support this treatment of civilians.
Nobody supports militancy, neither us, nor anybody in the opposition.
But shouldn't there be a difference between our treatment of militants and treating a 6-year-old... or an elderly father... or a woman? (locals)
