The Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was moved today in Rajya Sabha. The Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on November 27. It was passed with a voice vote, while Congress MPs had walked out of the House in protest.
The BJP will meet today as the party deliberates on its strategy for the remaining winter session of parliament, which ends on December 13. The party MPs were informed today in the Parliamentary Party meeting that Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament next week, party sources said.
Meanwhile, the Recycling of Ships Bill, 2019 will be introduced by Union Minister Mansukh Mandavia for consideration in the Lok Sabha. The bill is to provide for the regulation of recycling of ships by setting certain standards and laying down the statutory mechanism for enforcement of such standards.

VP Singh, Chandra Shekhar, Narsimha Rao's security was also revoked. Manmohan Singh's SPG protection was also revoked. But the Congress did not create a ruckus then. No discussion was had in the country when their security was involved. Law is equal for everyone, not different for a single country.

This is the fifth amendment in the SPG Act. This amendment is not brought in by keeping Gandhis in mind, but, one thing that I can say for sure is that the previous four amendments were done by keeping only one family in mind.

Parliament Winter Session: The Special Protection Group Bill In Rajya Sabha Today
A statement from the Home Ministry said, "The Bill says that family members of a former Prime Minister who reside with him at his allotted accommodation will get security cover of the SPG only for five years, from the date he/she ceases to hold the office of Prime Minister."
