Union Home Minister Amit Shah today moved the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage. Earlier, the bills were passed in the Lok Sabha.
"J&K Constitution does not hold any validity after Supreme Court's verdict on Article 370 abrogation. Article 370 in J&K gave rise to separatism which in turn promoted terrorism," Mr Shah said.
Apart from that house is expected to see the laying of reports of Standing Committee on Water Resources, and 'Demands for Grants (2023-24)' of the Ministry of Jal Shakti - Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation will be made by Guman Singh Damor.
On Friday, Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha after a discussion on the report of the Ethics Committee in the 'cash for query' that was tabled in the Lower House.

This day is significant as it will be written in golden letters in the history of this country and J&K, Amit Shah said.
"Many questions were raised. In Lok Sabha, people said what's the point of tabling this bill, the Supreme Court will issue a just verdict. The opposition has been objecting to the Centre's stand but today the court vindicated our stand," he said.
"The court admitted that Article 370 was a temporary provision. Some people who praise Nehru ji don't like this. But if this article was that important, why would Nehru ji use the word temporary in this article?", he asked, taking a dig.

Rajya Sabha Discusses Jammu And Kashmir Bills
Rajya Sabha on Monday took up discussion on two bills on Jammu and Kashmir, with Home Minister Amit Shah likely to reply to the debate later in the day.
The Rajya Sabha took up discussion on Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The two bills were passed by Lok Sabha last week.
One of the bills seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004. It was enacted to provide for reservation in appointments and admission in professional institutions for the members of the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and other socially and educationally backward classes.
The bill seeks to amend Section 2 of the Reservation Act to change the nomenclature of "weak and underprivileged classes (social castes)" to "other backward classes" and make consequential amendments.
The other bill seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

Opposition vs BJP Over DMK MP's Controversial Remark In Rajya Sabha
Opposition and treasury benches on Monday engaged in a heated verbal duel in Rajya Sabha after a controversial remark by a DMK member during a discussion on Jammu and Kashmir bills, following which Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expunged it and reminded the MPs of the responsibility that came with the freedom of speech.
Disapproving of M Mohamed Abdulla's remarks, Mr Dhankhar told the DMK member, who also described the abrogation of Article 370 as an attack on federalism, that the freedom of speech in the Upper House "is not unqualified" in reference to the Supreme Court judgement on the matter.
"Can we quote anything in this House? Can we go to the extent of it being seditious, challenging our integrity, and going against our Constitution? Going against the judgement of the Supreme Court this day? That will not be acceptable," he said during the proceedings.
The DMK MP was speaking during a discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

When Will Government Reclaim Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir: Adhir Ranjan
Congress' leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday asked the government when it would reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while also demanding that elections be held in Jammu and Kashmir and its statehood restored.
His remarks came after the Supreme Court on Monday upheld the Centre's decision to abrogate provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and directed the restoration of statehood "at the earliest" as well as elections to the assembly by September 30 next year.
Asked about the verdict, Mr Chowdhury said it was also the Congress' view that Article 370 was a temporary ad hoc measure and when it was put in place, the reasons were explained "We have been demanding in Parliament that when will you restore the statehood. Inside Parliament, (Home Minister) Amit Shah was saying with great conviction that we will reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, so they should tell us when will they reclaim PoK. Elections will come and go but reclaim PoK before this election," Chowdhury told reporters outside Parliament.

BJP Raises Cash Seized Issue From Company Linked To Congress MP
BJP members in the Lok Sabha on Monday raked up the issue of recovery of a huge amount of cash from a distillery company linked to Congress' Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu.
Sanjay Seth, the BJP member from Ranchi, raised the issue during the Zero Hour, seeking a reply from the Congress.
Several other BJP MPs sitting next to him displayed newspapers with reports of the recovery of cash to drive home their point.
Rajendra Agrawal, who was chairing the proceedings, urged members not to name the Rajya Sabha member and asked them to put down the newspapers.
Mr Seth also read out a purported tweet of Sahu in which he had claimed that only Congress can get rid of corruption.
The House witnessed a war of words between BJP and Congress members on the issue. The Congress has already distanced itself from the issue.
