New Delhi: Both houses of the Parliament were adjourned indefinitely today, a week ahead of schedule. The decision, the sources said, was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, which manages the schedule of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The Winter Session, which began on December 7, has seen stormy scenes and frequent adjournments.
Heated exchanges between the treasury and Opposition benches over the tension on the India-China border has been the highlight of the session, following the clash between soldiers of the two sides near the Line of Actual Control earlier this month.

Winter Session Live: Lok Sabha Adjourned Indefinitely
The Lok Sabha was today adjourned indefinitely six days ahead of schedule. The session, which commenced on December 7, was to conclude on December 29, subject to exigencies of business. In the Business Advisory Council (BAC) meeting of Lok Sabha, it was unanimously decided to adjourn the winter session of Parliament sine die on December 23.

CPI(M) MP Demands Discussion On Recommendations Of Parliamentary Committee On Official Language
Rajya Sabha MP, John Brittas, has given a Zero Hour Notice in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language to implement Hindi as the medium of instruction in Central Universities and Institutes of National Importance like IITs, IIMs, etc. The Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, recently submitted the 11th volume of its report to President Droupadi Murmu. Among other things, it recommends the use of Hindi as the medium of instruction in central universities and institutes of national importance - such as IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS - "in Hindi-speaking states".
