Passport racket busted in Punjab
Chandigarh: An immigration racket has been busted in Punjab with the arrest of two men and seizure of more than 1,200 passports, police said Tuesday.

The arrests took place in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (formerly Nawanshehr) district.

With three others, the pair ran an illegal travel and immigration agency, an officer said here.

This is the single biggest seizure of passports in Punjab where the young are constantly trying to go abroad for work, legally or illegally.

SBS Nagar police chief Narinder Bhargava said the police raided various places. SBS Nagar is located 90 km from Chandigarh.

"We have recovered 1,219 passports from them," he said.
