Patna students go on the rampage

Patna:

There has been vandalism in Bihar again. This time students of class 11 and 12 went on the rampage demanding re-valuation of their results.

On Tuesday, the results of 2000 out of the 50,000 students were marked as pending.

So on Wednesday they protested in what seems to have become the most popular way of attracting attention. They targeted offices, smashed cars and even beat up innocent bystanders.

"I guess the students were angry about their results. That's why they did this," says one student defending the violence.

Just two days ago, Bihar saw hooligansm with villagers just outside Patna burning trains. They wanted the Railways to reinstate several halts at short distances for local trains -- halts which are unviable.

Nobody was arrested then, and not surprisingly Wednesday's violence hasn't seen any action yet either.

"We were out on patrol. By the time we reached, the students had already fled," said one cop.

There's no word from the state's education department on why these results were with held, but its clear hooliganism pays.
