Pawar's move political tourism: Congress

Mumbai:

Congress on Thursday termed NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar's participation in Friday's Third Front rally in Bhubneshwar as "political tourism".

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Mohan Prakash, AICC secretary incharge of Maharashtra affairs, said that the Congress has nothing to do with efforts of other parties aspiring to expand their political base and indulging in "political tourism".

"Our alliance with the NCP in Maharashtra is cordial and practical," he said, adding that people may aspire many things, but 'God's will' is the most important.

Prakash also said that the Congress was open to post-poll alliances and would lead the next government at the Centre after the general elections.

Speaking about coalitions, he said they were a milestone and not the final destination for the Congress.

Lashing out at the NDA's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani, Prakash asked the BJP to provide a list of achievements of their leader on what he had done for development of youth of this country.

The opposition has a negative approach for progress, development and change, he said adding that the people of India have to chose between a strong and stable government of the Congress and a helpless, weak government of the opposition, he added.
