Lucknow:
Amid objections by Uttar Pradesh government to the secret visit of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the state, a senior party leader on Saturday said people were liking his unannounced tours.
"People are really liking these unannounced visits where Rahul has to often introduce himself to people," AICC treasurer Motilal Vora said in Lucknow.
On the state government's objections to Rahul's recent visit to some districts, Vora said, "State should think about it...people are liking it very much."
The Congress leader also wondered as to why objections were being raised, saying, "Rahul decides his own programmes whether he has to visit UP, MP or any other state. When SPG is extending security to Rahul, the Uttar Pradesh police should have come to know about his visit."
Vora said Rahul had become popular among the masses, especially youth.
"Wherever he goes people listen to him with rapt attention," he said, adding youths have got attracted to the Congress in a big way.
