New Delhi: Hitting back at BSP chief Mayawati, BJP today alleged corruption and crime associated with her party and ruling Sajamwadi Party are the biggest obstacles to the growth of Uttar Pradesh and claimed people will uproot them by handing over the state's reins to it in the 2017 Assembly elections.
BJP's attack on the BSP chief came following her criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his events in the state yesterday accusing him of misleading people and doing nothing for them.
"Only BJP is capable of ridding UP of corruption and crime. BSP, SP and Congress have held the state to ransom for a long time. BSP and SP supported Congress' corruption at the Centre and it supported their corruption in the state.
"Modi is working for the poor and farmers and people will vote BJP to power in the state. They will not be misled by either of the two regional parties" party's national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.
Citing social security, crop insurance, Mudra bank schemes besides allocation of Rs 80 lakh to villages and Rs 21 crore to small towns by the government, he claimed that these proved the party's pro-poor credentials and the criticism by BSP chief Mayawati will not cut ice with masses.
All BJP-ruled states are doing well on developmental parameters and the ease of doing business and UP will also join them after the next year Assembly elections with BJP's win, he claimed saying BSP, SP and Congress will be taught a lesson by the people.
