People will have to pay for the "greed of a few" who indulge in wanton destruction of nature which is adversely affecting climate all over the globe, President Pranab Mukherjee said today.
He was speaking after receiving the first copy of a book 'Building a Just World: Essays in honour of Muchkund Dubey' at Rashtrapati Bhavan from Kapila Vatsyayan, Trustee, India International Centre, who formally released it.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said he was happy to receive the first copy of the publication, which speaks of the desire of billions of people who aspire to have the dream of a just world fulfilled someday.
The volume will help us in understanding complex problems in the world today. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi he said that the earth has enough resources for our need, but not for our greed.
Mr Mukherjee said that we will have to pay for the greed of a few who indulge in wanton destruction of nature which is adversely affecting climate all over the globe, according to a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He said those who desire the creation of a just world deserve a salute from us and Professor Dubey who has endeavoured in this regard through purposive action in the form of policy and scholarship is surely one of them.
Muchkund Dubey, a veteran diplomat, is a an ex- Foreign Secretary.
