Mamata Banerjee claims that the Election Commission has issued the notice for her comments that she would take on the rival parties after the elections.
Suri, West Bengal:
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a sharp reaction to the showcause notice, dared the Election Commission to take action against her.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission had issued notice to the West Bengal Chief Minister for promising to make Asansol a district during a rally.
Soon after the showcase notice was issued against her, Ms Banerjee said that she doesn't regret what has said.
"Just heard that they (Election Commission) have showcaused me... I have said what I liked, I will again say so, thousand times, crore times, do whatever you (Election Commission) can against me," she said at rally.
"They (Election Commission) have showcaused me on the very first day of the Bengali New Year, the people will showcause them on May 19," a visibly irritated Ms Banerjee said.
"What will you do against me? You have transferred my officer, will you transfer me to Delhi? If you bury me here, I will resurface in Delhi. I will react vigorously if you intimidate me," the Trinamooll Congress chief said.
Ms Banerjee, however, claimed that the Election Commission had issued the notice for her comments that she would take on the rival parties after the elections.
However, when asked after the meeting whether she would reply to the showcause notice, the Chief Minister said, "I have not yet received the letter. My party will decide what to do."
