New Delhi:
The United States has named ambassador David Mulford's replacement in New Delhi.
Peter Burleigh, a seasoned South Asian expert, who speaks fluent Bengali, Hindi, Nepali and Sinhalese, is set to take over as the new envoy charge d'affaires at the American embassy in New Delhi on Monday.
This is an interim arrangement till the Obama administration picks a fulltime ambassador. The last US ambassador, David C. Mulford, left New Delhi last month.
