Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Shraddha, the bride, made several heads turn at the polling centre.

New Delhi:

Dressed in wedding finery, a bride from Maharashtra did not miss her date with voting during the third phase of Lok Sabha elections being held today on 117 seats. Just hours ahead of her wedding ceremony, the bride went straight to the polling station and was spotted queuing up at a booth in Pune. In her traditional Maharashtrian saree and jewellery, Shraddha, the bride, made several heads turn at the polling centre. After voting, she happily posed with her inked finger.

"It is our national duty. I felt a little nervous but I liked it," she coyly told news agency ANI.

The groom came straight from his wedding to vote.

The excitement to vote was palpable during Phase 2 elections too when a newly-wed groom in Bengal postponed his wedding rituals to first fulfill his responsibility as a citizen. Dressed in a traditional Bengali kurta, the groom drove to the polling booth in a decorated car and said he will get his new bride home after the pending rituals are completed.

Garlanded with currency notes and dressed in a wedding suit, the groom kept his date with voting day.

During the Phase 1 elections too, a groom-to-be was spotted at a booth in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor. Garlanded with currency notes and dressed in a wedding suit, he remembered to keep his date with the elections.

Elections will be held in four other phases on April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Results will be declared on May 23.
