Pick of the MNIK comments on NDTV.com

New Delhi: We at NDTV.com have been inundated with comments from our surfers on My Name is Khan and the controversy surrounding it.

In our forums, we asked our readers:

How can Mumbai stop Sena from holding city hostage?

I will watch MNIK because...

Here, we bring you some of the comments and thank our surfers for the overwhelming response. Keep watching this space for more reactions.

Basant: I will go and watch the movie since I stay in a democratic country and where the films are cleared by an established authority. I do not accept the parallel diktat of a third party. They are not going to decide which movies should be screened / banned, which country can play in India and which cannot. This is Talibanisation of Mumbai and we should nip it in the bud.

Tirtho: Although I am in Orlando, I have been waiting for this movie for a long time. It's a big movie that's going to make history. And after all the drama back home, I feel I must act rationally and stand by SRK to support him and prove to the fanatics that times have changed and the power is in the hands of people!

Faizan: I was not much of a Shah Rukh fan but his strong and intelligent view points and his brave resolve has made me one. I'm going to watch this as a tribute to his resolve and persona, I wish he was a politician!!

Wazir Akhtar: I will watch MNIK because as a sensible Indian I would like to condemn all those who spread hate in the name of a city, state or religion. We should be proud of our Indianness. Long live India. Jai Hind.

Gopal: Once again Mumbai residents have proved they are brave and beautiful. We all need to unite against these so-called 'patriotic' people. This is beginning of the end of Sena raj. Once again - Mumbai belongs to every one!

Gautham: The only way to save a vibrant city like Mumbai from a fanatic Sena party will be hold the party leaders & workers accountable for causing disruption to business and people. If Sena is least worried about people in Maharashtra, they should put 'Changing the Slums' on top of their agenda instead of going behind SRK & IPL. They have simply lost the plot in politics.

Indrani: Any city for that matter can surpass such forces by collectively acting against them. If all of us are bold and defy them, then how can a handful of people do anything? Media bashing of the Sena will also help. We really need to have one of the Thackerays answering Qs by the public online. Do they really think what they are doing is for the people of Mumbai? They will have no answers except protests and violence for nonsensical issues.

Anissa: After a very long time, someone who has so much to lose has had the integrity and the backbone to stand up to blatant prejudice and speak his mind. Thank God for that! This is a defining moment - get out in droves and watch MINK, not for SRK and his team, but because you will not allow people who feed off the ignorance of others to dictate principles to you. Mumbai is a part of India, not the other way around, and it belongs to every Indian - this is the time to prove it! Shivaji's legacy has been manipulated long enough for useless political gain.

VY: The SRK-Sena row in Maharashtra is truly a reflection of the weak governance across the country. All it takes to bring a city to its knees is a few committed miscreants. It is time for the government to assert itself and provide freedom of choice provided under the law of the land.

Arpit Binjrajka
: Shiv Sena talks about SRK not being a patriot and behave themselves like The British Raj by following 'divide and rule'. We need to tell Shiv Sena that we wont let it happen again.
