New Delhi:
As far as flights go, this one was exceptionally bumpy. But don't blame it on sexual harassment.
An Air India flight from Sharjah to Delhi witnessed an ugly fight between the pilots and an air hostess and her friend, who was the purser on the flight. Worrying for the 106 passengers on that flight on the 3rd of October: the fight took place in the cockpit.
The stewardess later claimed that the pilots had molested her, and that provoked the purser into rising to her defence. On Friday, an Air India committee that includes women executives has said that's not the case.
The committee has ruled that "the allegations of sexually-coloured behaviour on the part of Captain Ranbir Arora were baseless and appeared to be made by Ms Komal Singh as an afterthought, as a planned and rehearsed strategy."
Air India has clarified that the pilot, co-pilot, purser and air hostess have been chargesheeted for indiscipline and for violating safety rules. The airline is conducting a detailed inquiry into what happened, and what action should be taken against its four employees.
