PM Has Forgotten Farmers: Rahul Gandhi In Bundelkhand

Rahul Gandhi launched a march in Uttar Pradesh.

Bundelkhand: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has forgotten his promises to farmers, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, launching a fresh attack today in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

"PM said he will support farmers and now he forgot the promises he made. I would appeal to him that Bundelkhand is also part of India and he should help the people of Bundelkhand," he said, during a march in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district.

"He (PM Modi) only helps selected industrialists help the farmers as well. I will raise the Bundelkhand issue in Parliament and Lok Sabha," he said.

The 45-year-old politician held three meetings in villages and he shared the stage with Congress leaders Jitin Prasad, Rita Bahuguna Joshi and other senior leaders from the party's Uttar Pradesh unit.

He also visited farmer's house and had lunch with her, discussing problems in her village. Drought and lack of work have forced her husband and son to migrate to the city in search of work, she said.

"I told him about my problem but I don't know if he will actually be able to help me or not. But I am sure hoping he will," Komdi Bai told NDTV.

The BJP termed the padyatra as futile. BJP spokesperson Siddharthnath Singh said, "Rahul Gandhi has done many marches in Bundelkhand. But nothing has improved."
