PM Modi urged the citizens to visit the National War Memorial and get rid of corruption, among other things.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had urged citizens to share their views for this edition of 'Mann ki Baat'.

Here are the Highlights from PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat:

  • More than 1 crore children have told me their 'Mann Ki Baat' through postcards from across the country and the world. I have read many of them. For India's future, the thinking of today's gen is important.
  • The Padma Awards have also been announced in the country. There are many such names among the recipients of Padma awards, about which very few people know. These are the unsung heroes of our country, who have done extraordinary things in ordinary circumstances.
  • The Prime Minister's National Children's Award: These awards should be given to those children who have done bold and inspirational work at young age.
  • In the 'National War Memorial' the names of all the bravehearts of the country who have been martyred since independence are inscribed. Some former soldiers of the army have written to me saying that the 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' being lit in front of the memory of the martyrs is a symbol of the immortality of the martyrs.
  • Truly, like 'Amar Jawan Jyoti', our martyrs are an inspiration and their contribution are also immortal. I would tell all of you, whenever you get an opportunity, definitely visit the 'National War Memorial'. The country is re-establishing its national symbols through these efforts. We saw that the 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' near India Gate and the Jyoti lit at the 'National War Memorial' nearby were merged. There were tears in the eyes of many countrymen and families of those who lost their lives for the nation on this emotional occasion.
  • Many jawans of security forces wrote letters to me and appreciated the move to merge the flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti at the National War Memorial.
  • Where duty is felt, duty is paramount, corruption cannot even think of entering there.
  • Friends, the enthusiasm of India's Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is not limited to our country. I have also received 75 postcards from Croatia, a friendly country of India.
  • My dear countrymen, India has been the sacred land of education and knowledge. We have not confined education to bookish knowledge, but have seen it as a holistic experience of life.
  • My dear countrymen, love for nature and compassion for every living being, this is our culture as well as innate nature.
  • When there is a sincere effort, work is done with a noble intention, results also follow!
  • Friends, the diverse colours and spiritual strength of Indian culture have always attracted people from all over the world.
  • Our culture is a priceless heritage not only for us, but for the whole world.
  • We should not forget the 'Swachhta Abhiyan'. We should accelerate the campaign against single use plastic. 'Vocal for Local' mantra is our responsibility. We have to work wholeheartedly for the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.
  • With the efforts of all of us, the country will reach new heights of development.
