New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today has asked his ministers to hold regular briefings for BJP lawmakers on their ministry's activities.
At a weekly meeting of BJP MPs at Parliament House, the Prime Minister also asked his party's parliamentarians to share their views on the Centre's scheme for villages.
The controversial Land Bill, which the government wants to push in Parliament today, was reportedly discussed.
Rural Development Minister Birender Singh briefed MPs on the government's amendments in the Land Bill to tackle criticism that it is anti-farmer. MPs also gave feedback from their constituencies.
"We had detailed discussion on the Land Bill and proceedings in both houses of Parliament. The feedback is very positive," said union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on the meeting.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley gave details of the coal and spectrum auction to the BJP MPs. Power Minister Piyush Goel is expected to brief the MPs later today on the government's policies in the power and coal sector.
Soon after coming to power last year, the party had instructed its MPs that the parliamentary party meetings on Tuesday are to be taken seriously. The party believes these meetings are vital in order to project a common, considered party stand.
