Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated students from his adopted village in Uttar Pradesh, Jayapur for top scoring in Class X exams on Friday.
Nitesh Kumar Patel of Jayapur village in PM Modi's constituency Varanasi scored 94.16 per cent, the most by any student in the district. Another student, Rishikesh Singh from a nearby village scored 93 per cent marks in Class XII exams.
"This news from Jayapur in my Parliamentary Constituency is very heartening. Congrats to these youngsters" PM Modi tweeted on Friday.
PM Modi had last year chosen Jayapur as a part of a scheme under which every lawmaker has to adopt a village in his constituency. The scheme was introduced in November 2014.
