PM Modi addresses a rally in Gaya

Gaya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a rally in Gaya today to give a boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign in Bihar ahead of the Assembly polls scheduled in the state for later this year.

Here are the highlights of PM Modi and Amit Shah's speeches:

PM Narendra Modi:
  • The number of people have doubled in Gaya from the last time when I came to the city during Lok Sabha polls.
  • The increase in numbers shows which way the wind is blowing.
  • People have decided they want to make a strong Bihar & they've also taken the decision on Parivartan.
  • These elections are about making Bihar free from Jungle Raj and an arrogant government.
  • They ruled for twenty five years. If this continues for five years can it be tolerated? Doesn't Bihar need change?
  • What have they done to Bihar... and this is a land that is talked about when we talk of India's golden past.
  • I can clearly see the two decisions made people of Bihar - they want change and be part of the state's development.
  • They have been ruling Bihar for 25 years. If this goes on for 5 more years, the state will be destroyed.
  • Why is Bihar not progressing? Who ruined Bihar? Who shattered dreams of people and brought Jungle Raj?
  • I don't know who is offering and who is consuming the poison.
  • Now Delhi is with Bihar. We are at your service to change Bihar. I am here to ask you to elect a good government.
  • The Ganges of development has begun but due to the arrogance of those in power in Bihar it is unable to reach the villages, the people.
  • Bihar has contributed the most in the country's development. We see a Bihari IAS officer in almost every corner of the nation.
  • When people of Madhya Pradesh elected a BJP government, see what has happened. Under the chief ministership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan Madhya Pradesh is no longer BIMARU state.
  • Rajasthan too was BIMARU. Today it isn't. There was a BJP government under Vasundhara Raje and the state scaled new heights of progress.
  • If tourism gets a boost then it will help people here. Imagine this land drawing tourists from all over the world.
  • Jungle Raj Part One didn't have the experience of jail but Jungle Raj Part two has that.
  • Their politics is driven by votebank considerations and they did nothing for Gaya.
  • In Patna a BJP worker was killed. it happened under their nose. It's a start of Jungle Raj again.
  • If Jungle Raj Part 2 comes everything will be ruined.
  • I am reiterating what I said last time - RJD means 'Rozana Jungleraj ka Darr'
  • JDU means 'Janata ka Daman aur Utpidan' (suppression and exploitation of people).
  • These two Chief Ministers (Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar) kept you in the dark for years.
  • We will need to focus on skill development and technical education for the youth of Bihar.
  • There are only 25,000 engineering seats for 80 lakh students in Bihar.
  • In states which are smaller than Bihar, there are many more engineering seats. Who is to be blamed?

Amit Shah (spoke before PM Modi):
  • Modi ji wants electricity, water and employment opportunities to reach each & every village of Bihar.
  • Today is 9th August, the day when Gandhi ji gave slogan of 'Angrezo Bharat Chhodo' (Quit India).
  • People of Bihar must also take a pledge today that jungle raj should quit Bihar and NDA's Government be formed here.
  • If Bihar wants development, the only way to achieve it by electing BJP to power.
  • Look at Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan... If Bihar wants to progress too, the first step to take is to vote the BJP.
