New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may travel to Saifai for the 'tilak' ceremony of Tej Pratap Yadav, the grand-nephew of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, on February 21, sources told NDTV.

Tej Pratap is marrying Raj Lakshmi, the daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad. Apart from PM Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also been invited.

The camaraderie, cutting across political borders, comes after Mr Yadav attended the wedding reception of BJP president Amit Shah's son in Delhi.

Though the Prime Minister's plans are still tentative, the Special Protection Group and senior police officers from Lucknow visited Saifai today to review the preparations and security aspects.

Over 1.5 lakh people have been invited to attend the opulent pre-wedding bash.

Tej Pratap Yadav, who represents Mainpuri in Parliament, will marry Raj Lakshmi on February 26 at New Delhi's Ashoka Hotel.

In December, Mr Singh and Mr Prasad had staged a massive protest at Jantar Mantar against the Modi government on the issue of black money and failing to check communal violence.

And during the Winter Session of Parliament, their two parties had joined hands to oppose the government over black money and religious conversions.

The ruckus had held up the passage of key bills, including the insurance bill, which is coming back in the budget session that's beginning on February 23 - three days after the "tilak" ceremony.
