New Delhi: Even as the Indian and Chinese troops had a tense stand-off in Chumur in Ladakh sector, government officials insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strongly conveyed to President Xi Jinping that such incidents on the border could impact the relationship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister reportedly told President Xi that "if there is a toothache, the entire body does not function properly."
Sources told NDTV that a heavy contingent of China's People's Liberation Army still remain on Indian territory in what could be described as one of the worst incursions in recent years. The stand-off continues despite reported assurances of President Xi to PM Modi that he had directed the Chinese troops to withdraw from the border.
President Xi's high profile visit to India was marked by bonhomie with PM Modi by taking leisurely walks with him along the Sabarmati riverfront and then later offering India with robust investment deals in manufacturing and railways.
