New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has stepped down ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mega cabinet reshuffle, the first in his second term, sources have said. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, and Union Minister Babul Supriyo have also quit.
Both the Health Ministers have quit after India saw a record rise in Covid cases during the second wave.
More than 40 ministers are expected to take oath today at 6 pm as PM Modi expands his cabinet.
The arrival of ministers-in-waiting at the Prime Minister's residence fueled a guessing game this morning and was seen as confirmation of names that have been circulating for weeks.
