Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts towards promoting Yoga, AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik today said that it was due to PM Modi's initiatives that yoga has got a high level of international recognition.
Noting that his government is committed to promote various streams of AYUSH system of medicines including Ayurveda and Unani, Mr Naik said that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts that yoga has got international recognition and June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day.
"Government is fully committed to promote the various streams of AYUSH system of medicine including Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Siddha etc," Mr Naik said during a seminar on 'Yoga and Spirituality' at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Naik said that it was on the initiative of the Prime Minister that a separate Ministry of AYUSH was created to develop and promote these systems of medicine.
"Not only this, it was due to the efforts of the Prime Minister that yoga has got a high level of international recognition now and June 21 was celebrated as the International Yoga Day," the Minister said.
Several Yoga experts also demonstrated the yoga poses at the function.
While highlighting the importance of yoga, Mr Naik said, "It is not only a health practice but also a means to unite the people due to its inherent connection with the mind."
