New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet top bureaucrats on the last day of 2015 for what is being described as a review meeting and pep talk.

The meeting will take place this evening at his 7 Race Course Road home.

Sources say the prime minister will take stock of the performance of various departments and the progress of projects.

PM Modi last held such a meeting on March 31, when secretaries had raised their concerns on officers being persecuted for political reasons.

The prime minister usually interacts with top ministries and also state chief secretaries on the last Wednesday of every month on videoconference, to review the status of infrastructure projects.

Today's meeting comes at a time some 200 officers have gone on protest leave against the suspension of two colleagues, allegedly for not signing off on decisions taken by the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi.

The Centre has declared the officials' suspension "null and void", in an escalation of the fight.

The protesting bureaucrats say the Kejriwal government has no right to suspend these officials, and the Centre has backed this stand.
