'No One Would Make Me PM Based on My Bio Data. I Bow to Millions of Indians,' Says PM Modi in China

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian Community Reception in Shanghai.

Shanghai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met with top Chinese CEOs and addressed the India-China Business Forum in Shanghai. India and China have signed 21 agreements worth $22 billion.

The Prime Minister addressed the Indian Community in a wrap-up of this three-day, three-city China visit.

Here are the highlights of his speech:
  • The time is changing at a fast pace. Nobody would have wondered, that in China, so many Indian citizens will be living a peaceful, happy life.
  • Just a year earlier, this two and a half hour time difference would have bothered you. You would have been eager to know the results of the elections in India.
  • Everyone asked who knows Modi outside India. Only people in Gujarat know him.
  • The criticism was correct but the doubt has been proved wrong.
  • No one would have made be prime minister by looking at my bio-data.
  • Na main bhoolta hoon, na main bhoolne deta hoon
  • I had said that I will not leave any stone unturned with my hard work.
Have I taken any leaves? Am I vacationing? Have I not being working sincerely.
  • I have come here today to ask for your blessings that the steps we have taken for the development of the country be successful.
  • I want you to bless me with your wishes that I do not make any such mistake that harms the interest of my country.
  • This is my last programme in China. While you will enjoy a Sunday off tomorrow, I will be working in Mongolia.
  • Can you imagine, Mongolia calling a session of its Parliament on a Sunday and  the Indian PM addressing it.
  • Indian and China make for 1/3rd of the world's population. Had we ever earlier thought about the power of these two countries together?
We had forgotten it. We thought we were two poor nations.
  • India and China can not only help each other but also aid the world in solving many other problems.
  • The world is seeing this visit very closely. The President of China welcomed another leader in a place outside Beijing.
  • The whole world is discussing one thing - global warming, climate change. This situation mankind has created for itself. In the whole world, we are the only people who have loved nature for centuries. Our visionary sages taught us to love nature.
  • We are the people who said that the exploitation of Nature is a crime.
  • It is my misfortune that I am criticized for working hard. If working hard is a crime, I am prepared to commit that crime for 125 crore Indians.
  • Every moment of my time is for the 125 crore people of India.
  • This is the first time a majority government has come after thirty years. That's why no one took us seriously earlier.
  • I think the most unique opportunity I've had on this trip was to meet the youth of China in two universities.
  • People in China are eager to know about India. You (Indians in China) are the best people to take India to Chinese citizens.
  • Encourage five Chinese nationals to come visit India: PM's message to expats in Shanghai.
  • India's tourism will grow but more than that China's people will have a new perspective of understanding India.
