Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing a rally in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. Below are the highlights:
- Country's farmer feeds everyone, and I salute all the farmers. I am thankful to all of you for coming to thus rally in such huge numbers
- In the last few days I have got an opportunity to interact with my farmer brothers in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh , Karnataka and now I have got an opportunity to interact with the farmers in Uttar Pradesh
- Farmers are the pride of India
- Today, there are ,many challenges before the farmer. Family is growing, land is being distributed and each member of family is getting smaller portion
- When the land is small it's difficult to grow sufficient crop. It becomes difficult for farmers to feed their family. If they won't be able to feed their family, how will they feed the entire nation
- I appeal not only Uttar Pradesh government but all state governments to give utmost priority to addressing farmers' issues and issues related to agriculture
- I wish to double the income of farmers by 2022 when India will celebrate 75 years of its Independence
- Farmers today want at least one member of their family to take up job because they know that the family cannot just sustain on agriculture
- We have taken multiple steps to promote scientific methods in agriculture since we came to power
- We have made efforts to bring in reforms in agriculture through science ever since over government came to power
- Bundelkhand region has 5 rivers but there is scarcity of even drinking water. I feel ashamed of this
