Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing a 'parivartan' rally meet in Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, a day before the opposition's proposed nationwide agitation over currency ban. Here are the highlights:
  • If we would have brought change in lives of farmers, India wouldn't have been facing problems. Strong farmers and villages add strength to India.
  • The government is Delhi is fully dedicated to farmers, villages.
  • The people here have gone through many troubles.
  • They say, if the person who gives is powerful then why the need to ask?
  • We are not powerful, we are sevaks. You, the people are givers, I have come here to pay the debts.
  • The people of sugar mills came to me to ask for a package (financial). This is an old habit, but Modi is new.
  • I told them I will give them whatever they need. Then sent my officers to inquire the debts these sugar mill owners owe the farmers.
  • I told the money will not be given to mill owners, but directly to the farmers, in their bank accounts.
  • When my government took charge, cane farmers were owed Rs 12,000 crore. We made efforts to ensure they got paid in time. Their dues have been cleared to an extent.
  • We have brought the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This ensures minimum premium and maximum insurance.
  • Corruption and black money have ruined the nation. India should now become free from all such evils.
  • I salute the people of this country. Despite facing inconvenience, people have accepted demonetization drive.
  • Technology has simplified our lives. Mobile phones have become banks today.
  • I urge the youth to train other people how mobile technology can lead to transparent transactions. It will choke black money.
  • On one hand we are initiating steps to curb corruption. but, on the other side a few people are talking about 'Bharat Bandh'.
  • Those who have looted the country for 70 years, won't be spared.
